An Analysis of Speech The Presidential Candidates Debate of United States in 2020

This research aims to see the impact caused by candidates presidential of United States in 2020 use speech acts, where an utterance contains pragmatic meanings make listener do what speaker wants through speech, such as statements, orders, offers, thanks and forms that had have direct effect is like punishing. analysis included theory so it useful increase knowledge readers from linguistic circles. In act theory, this focuses on based Austin (1962) then for illocutionary acts Searle (1979).
 The researcher applies a qualitative description method collecting data Djajasudarma (2006), analyze equivalent Sudaryanto (1993), technique including: tapping records, note-taking techniques. called determining element sorting (1993).
 There are 309 utterances or 100% whole data, while further grouped into five parts, they assertive type many 184 59% directive 70 22%, commissive with 49 15%, followed expressive 5 1.6% declarative at least 1 about 0.3% last perlocutionary found were 139 44%.
